JONATHAN PICKETT is a gray-haired, former child actor-turned-filmmaker.

He’s an Emmy-nominated creative producer, director & editor. His documentary work focuses on well-observed stories captured with a sense of tenderness, intimacy & playfulness. He loves the idea of filmmaking as a means of listening & dignifying, where discovery is oftentimes more profound than invention.

His forthcoming first feature, Sing at My Wake, received support from the Sundance Institute / Sandbox Films Fund, and won the 2024 BendFilm: Basecamp pitch.His f

His work has been released through The New Yorker, GQ Magazine, New York Times, The Atlantic, ALTER, NoBudge, Short of the Week & Vimeo Staff Picks. His projects have premiered at film festivals like Sundance, Tribeca, Seattle, Austin, Mountainfilm, Palm Springs & HollyShorts – where his latest project won “Best Shot on 16mm Film.”

Jonathan is a recipient of the Stept Film Fund & the NewNarratives grant from NewFilmmakers LA. His short documentary "Chicken Stories" won the jury prize for Artistic Vision at Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, after which it was acquired by The New Yorker & selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick.

A proud San Diegan, he loves analog photography, his cat Vivian & way-too-drawn-out neighborhood walks.  He hopes you’re doing well.
